Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum

Archaeology and art from the Middle Ages to the present day

Art, culture, history, and nature in Tyrol and beyond - the experiences offered by the five houses of the Tyrolean State Museums are varied. These include the Folk Art Museum, the Court Church, the Armoury, the TIROL PANORAMA with the Kaiserjägermuseum, and the Ferdinandeum itself.

Art Historical Collections

The Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum opened in 1845 and is considered the third oldest "State Museum" of the Aus-tro-Hungarian monarchy. Only the museums in Budapest and Graz are older. The extensive collection consists of two sec-tions: acquisitions through gifts from the population, and acquisitions purchased by the museum association.

Regional Library

During a winter holiday in Tyrol and a visit to the Ferdinandeum, visitors can also gain access to the regional library. Here you can find literature (books, newspapers, magazines, and special collections) of the whole European region. More than 1.6 million references refer to topics directly related to Tyrol.

Modernism has also found its way into this historic place. With the free app #myFERDINANDEUM, you can actively shape your own museum visit. In addition to more in-depth information on exhibits and 3D models, innovation is also available in the museum itself in the form of a room that can be personally put together. The "favourite objects" of the tour are collect-ed, and the composition is then projected onto the wall in the "curating room" on the ground floor.
